Awakening

LIZZIE THOMAS

A Soul-Stirring Journey Through Feminine Empowerment, and Jazz Expression

There’s a kind of magic that happens when music feels less like sound and more like a living thing—and Lizzie Thomas’s Awakening conjures exactly that. This all original album breathes and pulses with the vibrant colors of jazz, soul, and pop, woven into a tapestry both intimate and expansive.

Recorded at the legendary Powerstation in NYC and featuring the Grammy-winning Harlem String Quartet, and Wayne Escoffery on soprano sax, Awakening is a bold new chapter in Thomas’ lauded career — one that pushes beyond the Great American Songbook and into a sound that is uniquely her own. Thomas trades the traditional upright bass for electric bass and brings the B3 Hammond organ into the core band, reshaping her sound with warmth, soul and modern edge.

“I finally gave myself permission to proclaim my voice,” Thomas shares. “This album is about unlearning what you were taught and waking up to the realization of who you really are— that life is not only offering you a second chance, but daring you to go after your dreams.”

A self-described clairaudient, Thomas channels lyrics and melodies in dreams, meditative states, and moments of living life. This intuitive, spiritual process is at the heart of Awakening, giving the album a sense of both mystery and intimacy.

By the closing notes, Awakening feels less like an album and more like a heartfelt conversation—one that leaves you breathless, hopeful, and ready to greet whatever comes next. Lizzie Thomas has crafted not just a collection of songs, but a soulful journey worth taking again and again.
